Shailene Woodley’s protest puts her behind bars

Shailene Woodley, known for her role as “Amy” in the ABC series “Secret Life of an American Teenager” was arrested for protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Shailene recorded video of her arrest, “Why am I being arrested and no one else here is? Is it because I’m famous? Is it because people know who I am?” Well Shailene, it’s the only reason why the mainstream media finally decides to report on the DAPL protests, because you’re a celebrity.

The MSM has been ignoring the rising protests and opposition towards the controversial project, which includes presidential candidate Jill Stein being charged for vandalism and trespassing, and Amy Goodman: host of Democracy Now; who was issued an arrest warrant by North Dakota officials. The Dakota Access Pipeline has yet to be discussed at the presidential debates despite its potential environmental threats to the local water supply.

How lost of a nation have we become when it takes a celebrity getting arrested for people to start recognizing controversial issues?

Over 100 Native tribes and more than a thousand environmental activists have been on the frontline of the construction, demanding their voices be heard. This is considered one of the largest protests conducted by Native American tribes, yet Shailene Woodley is the star of the protest. Why? Because our nation worships celebrities like Gods.
